Technologies for Health will provide early design consultation and management of studies that will support product design and development, regulatory compliance and provide evidence for early adoption of new products into the appropriate healthcare system. Such evidence will include comparative studies against standard and routinely used tests (“testing the test”), user acceptance and cost benefit analysis.
Each device and diagnostic will be subject to rigorous evaluation by clinicians and healthcare professionals providing the test manufacturer and the end user with data addressing functionality, accuracy, reliability and ease of use of the product. The health economics of its use and training and education requirements of the healthcare personnel can also be provided as a secondary service. The combined service offering will allow commercial feedback from both healthcare professionals and patients to the product manufacturer and so directly influencing product development and adoption.
Technologies for Health will provide specialist support to companies developing medical and diagnostic devices for use in healthcare delivery, specifically:
- In designing, developing and evaluating new products targeted at new applications within healthcare.
- In data gathered from practical use by healthcare professionals with specific expertise and experience in the relevant clinical field.
- A means of optimally positioning products within the healthcare delivery spectrum.
- A means of enabling (early) adoption of products into routine use.
- Reduce cost to product development and adoption.
- Produce cost saving to NHS from product adoption.
- Provide patient benefits by adopting new technology.
